Things to do in Nevada City
Growing and foraging mushrooms are popular things to do in Nevada City. After successfully growing chestnut mushrooms in my kitchen, I set up a 10’x10′ grow tent in my garage to see how well that works. It turned out to be much more involved than I was planning, but it worked. I only put three substrate blocks in the tent, but after a couple of weeks, I’m harvesting my first flush today. Things to do in Nevada City
Mountain Biking is a popular thing to do in Nevada City. The Pioneer Trail runs along Highway 20, and several trails connect to it, including the ever-popular Hoot Trail. Today I attempted to ride the Hoot Trail, but as I passed the Five Mile House on the Pioneer Tail, there was too much snow and mud. So I drove to the Loma Rica Trail in Grass Valley, where it was sunny and 60 degrees. The trail is relatively easy, but getting out for a ride was nice. Nevada City is an excellent area for farms and gardens, except for the winter months. I have been looking for ways to garden indoors this winter, and after a bit of research, I decided to grow mushrooms. I found a local company called Mush Barn that sells all you need to grow mushrooms, so I decided to start small and see where it goes. The photo above is an example of my first try. Once you’re prepared to stage your home, you’ll want to highlight those qualities with the crème de la crème of design – blacks, grays and whites.
While buyers will always notice houses with splashy displays, that doesn’t necessarily mean they will find them appropriate for their tastes.
